There is some LOOSE piece of material in the paper path which causes the jam. Because it is loose it can move and appear gone but it is still in there. Sooner or later it will jam again!
Try:
1. Inverting the printer and shaking in every direction (screaming helps).
2. Use narrow vacuum cleaner nozzle to suck or blow out debris from paper entrance slot.
3. Lightly spray a sheet of bond paper with tacky adhesive (the kind used for temporarily mounting photos in albums)and feed this paper through. It will clean the drive rollers and may grab the debris causing the jam. Don’t use too much adhesive and let it dry thoroughly first.
I have removed the top from a Lexmark X1150 which I believe has the same paper feed mechanism as the 924. This allowed observation of the entire paper feeding process. At the bottom of the paper storage slot there is a small rubber strip just toward the center from the feed roller which apparently prevents the entire stack of paper feeding in all at once. This rubber strip appears to be adjustable front to rear and a lug like projection of it is visible with the printer inverted (up side down) and the paper catcher tray pulled out. If there only a few sheets of paper in the printer they can catch on the front edge of this rubber strip. If the jams do not occur with a full load of paper then this rubber strip may be the problem.
Also I have taken a length of paper 1 inch wide by 11 inches long, dipped it 70% rubbing alcohol and fed it directly under the feed roll which is visible opposite the paper width guide. After 3/4 of the strip has fed into the printer I pull it out slowly as the feed roll tries to feed it into the printer. This seems to clean and rejuvenate the feed roll surface. Wipe excess liquid off the length of paper before trying this.
